HYDERABAD: An old offender Mahesh Kumar involved in a series of property offences in the past was arrested by Panjagutta police on Thursday within 24 hours after he stole a pair of a doctor’s shoes from a private hospital at Somajiguda on Wednesday afternoon.
Mahesh, 28, a Suryapet district native, entered the hospital building with an intention to steal something and make money, but as he could not find anything, he stole the shoes, walked out the hospital wearing them, said police.
He was earlier working as a wardboy in another private hospital but was removed due to misconduct a few days ago. As he was jobless, he was looking for easy money making options and decided to steal from the hospital.
Police said using clues from CCTVs they traced him to a nearby hostel where he was staying and arrested him. Along with the stolen shoe, an i phone and a One Plus make tab were also seized from him. Though he claims that the gadgets are his own, they are being verified, said an official from Panjagutta police station.
Police initiated action after a security staff from the hospital lodged a complaint on Wednesday informing that an unidentified person walked into the hospital, took the lift from the cellar, went to the fifth floor and stole the shoes. They also submitted CCTV footage to the cops.
Taking a cue from the footage at the hospital, cops scanned other CCTVs and tracked his movements and finally traced him. He was sent to judicial remand on Thursday, added the official.
