Jaipur: A five-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally falling into a 100-feet deep well at Derna village, under Abu Road Sadar police station area of Sirohi district, late Thursday night. The incident occurred at around 10.30pm when the deceased, identified as Ravi Ram, was playing outside his family's home, which is built on a field.
DSP Bhanwar Lal said that after police and administration received information about the accident, a team comprising police and administrative officials swiftly arrived at the scene.
The disaster response team from Mount Abu was also notified and reached the village promptly. The child was eventually retrieved from the well after two hours of strenuous rescue efforts, and subsequently transported to Abu Road Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. "He was pulled out of the borewell after a very difficult operation and rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," said an official.
District authorities added that the family, who are engaged in farming, have two other children.
Officials inspected the area on Friday to ensure that the same tragedy does not repeat and all safety measures were in place. "We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident," said an official said.
