HC seeks reply on panchayat delimitation in Jhunjhunu dist
Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court Tuesday issued notices to several senior state govt officials regarding the delimitation and creation of new gram panchayats.
The single bench of Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand demanded responses from key officials, including the additional chief secretary and district collector of Jhunjhunu, by April 30.
The court's action comes in response to a petition filed by Babu Lal Yadav, a resident of Krishna Nagar village in Jhunjhunu district, challenging the proposed creation of a new gram panchayat in Sokdala, located nearly 10-km from the existing Chhapoli gram panchayat.
According to Rampratap Saini, counsel for the petitioner, Krishna Nagar village meets all necessary criteria for becoming a new gram panchayat. The local MLA, Bhagwana Ram Saini, has already submitted a proposal to the state govt supporting Krishna Nagar's case.
"Despite filing an objection with the district collector regarding this matter, no action has been taken so far," Saini told TOI. The court has directed that a copy of the petition be provided to additional advocate general Kapil Prakash Mathur for state govt response.
