Two-year-old among 4 injured in rabid dog attack in Alwar
Alwar: A rabid dog viciously attacked and grievously wounded four individuals, including a two-year-old girl in Alwar's Nangla Samavadi Wednesday. The critically injured girl was rushed to hospital and has received 12 sutures on her cheek.
According to eyewitness accounts, Rajkumar Dhobi's two-year-old daughter, Khwahish, was playing outside her residence when the dog pounced on her, grievously injuring her cheek and jaw. The dog subsequently attacked three more people. Infuriated residents bludgeoned the dog to death.
At 7am Wednesday, the dog attacked the little girl playing outside her house in Gandhinagar area, lacerating half of her cheek and wounding her forehead and nose. The dog fastened its jaws around the girl's face. Her father, standing nearby, rushed to her rescue upon hearing her screams. He managed to extract her from the dog's grip by her legs.
The girl is presently undergoing treatment at Alwar District Hospital, where she received 10 sutures on her left cheek. Rajiv Gandhi Hospital's ENT specialist BM Sharma, who is attending to the girl, said she was severely mauled, and her face is being reconstructed. It will require substantial time for her appearance to normalise, and she received 12 sutures, he said.
Nivesh Kumar, a social worker from Shalimar, demanded the municipal corporation sterilise street dogs and relocate them.
