NEW DELHI: A woman pilgrim from Delhi was arrested after a loaded pistol was found in her possession at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, officials said on Tuesday.
Jyoti Gupta, who claimed to be a retired police constable, was intercepted at a checkpoint near the sanctum sanctorum on the intervening night of March 14-15. Security personnel recovered a pistol along with six rounds of ammunition from her.
Officials said the licence for the firearm had expired a few years ago. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.
