Driver dies after ambulance falls into ditch

Kanpur: A driver died after an out-of-control ambulance overturned and fell into a ditch near Dileep Nagar village on Bela Road in the Chaubepur area of the district on Sunday. Police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
According to the information received, Neeraj Kumar (32), son of Ramesh Kumar from Raipur village in the Shivli police station area of Kanpur Dehat district, was an ambulance driver working for a private hospital. On Sunday morning, he was on his way to the hospital with the ambulance when he lost control near Dileep Nagar village, causing the ambulance to fall into a ditch about seven feet deep. The driver was severely trapped in the vehicle. By the time the farmers working in the fields and passersby managed to extract him, he had already died. The police took possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem.
In-charge of Bikru police outpost Mayank Singh said that the family has been informed and an investigation into the cause of the incident is underway. tnn
