Fire breaks out at an apartment in Kanpur, none injured
Kanpur : A fire was reported on the fourth floor of KDA Heights Apartment on Bithoor Road in the Kalyanpur police station area late on Saturday evening. Three fire brigades led by chief fire officer (CFO) Kanpur extinguished the blaze. CFO Deepak Sharma said, "There were no casualties in the incident."
The fire brigade teams evacuated all residents from the affected floor and the neighbouring apartments as a precautionary measure. Initial investigations suggest that the blaze originated from an electrical short circuit in the flat, the CFO said.
The fire services personnel reached the spot and deployed high-pressure water hoses to control the flames. Police cordoned off the area to manage onlookers and ensure smooth movement of emergency vehicles. The building's security staff assisted in the evacuation process and helped maintain order.
The apartment's electrical supply was temporarily disconnected as a safety measure while firefighters worked to contain the situation.
The CFO said that through campaigns, they will advise residents to regularly check their electrical systems and maintain functional fire safety equipment in their homes.
