Kanpur: A ‘Road Safety' public awareness programme was organised by the traffic police to mark the completion of 8 years of the Uttar Pradesh govt and four years of the Kanpur Police Commissionerate on Thursday.
During the event, the traffic police actively engaged with the public to promote road safety awareness. The officers interacted with two-wheeler riders, explaining the importance of wearing helmets and following traffic regulations.
During the event, Joint Commissioner of Police (headquarters and crime) Vinod Kumar Singh and Additional Commissioner of Police (law & order) Harish Chander distributed helmets among two-wheeler riders at Bada Chauraha. ADCP traffic Archana Singh and TI Zone were also present on the occasion.
The senior officials shared statistics about road accidents and highlighted how proper helmet usage reduced fatalities. They also conducted practical demonstrations on the correct way to wear helmets and explained various safety features that should be checked while purchasing protective gear.
An educational sessions about traffic rules and regulations was also held during which people were informed about proper lane discipline, speed limits within city boundaries, and the importance of following traffic signals. The police team distributed informative pamphlets containing essential road safety guidelines and emergency contact numbers.
Locals actively participated in the programme, asking questions and sharing their experiences regarding road safety. Several community leaders and social activists also attended the event, pledging their support to the initiative. The police officials announced plans to conduct similar awareness programmes at regular intervals at different locations in Kanpur.
The event concluded with a commitment to work together towards making Kanpur's roads safer. The officials announced the installation of additional traffic cameras and monitoring systems to enhance road safety measures across the city and urged all to become responsible road users.
