Man accused of selling ganja to students arrested
Kochi: A 27-year-old man who used to peddle ganja among students and youngsters was arrested by Ernakulam rural police. The arrested person was identified as Akash Satheesh from Thuruthissery. He was arrested during a joint operation by Nedumbassery police and a special investigation team. They seized 3.6kg of ganja from him.
The cannabis was found during a search conducted at his house by the team based on confidential information received by district police chief Vaibhav Saxena.
Ganja was found stored in a bag of an online food delivery company and was being sold in small packets. The transactions were conducted by delivering the ganja to specific locations. The police have also gained information about the regular sources from which Satheesh used to purchase ganja. An investigation is also ongoing to identify his clients.
Police said they received complaints regarding cannabis sales in the area through the ‘Urappu @ School' platform which was formed for the school authorities and parents to raise issues. Consequently, police put the area under surveillance.
