Kozhikode: AICC general secretary and MP K C Venugopal said that the Kerala governor, who is being vocal about the powers of Parliament in law-making, is not recognising the authority of the legislative assembly. He was speaking after inaugurating the Kozhikode DCC office, named after K Karunakaran.
He said that the central govt is misusing all agencies, including the ED, CBI, and Election Commission. "They are attempting to undermine states through governors. As part of this, bills are being indefinitely delayed. It's not just a few isolated bills, many bills are stalled. This undermines the dignity of democracy. The Supreme Court has pointed out this Constitutional violation," Venugopal said.
"However, the Kerala governor claims that the SC cannot intervene in matters concerning governors. He states that this is an issue for Parliament to consider. Why is the Kerala governor, who accepts Parliament, not accepting the legislative assembly?," he asked.
Venugopal dedicated the renovated district Congress committee office to the public on Saturday. The renovation of the ‘Leader K Karunakaran Mandiram' was completed in one and a half years at a cost of Rs 7.5cr.
