Kozhikode: The state unit of
Trinamool Congress (TMC) held its delegates' convention at Manjeri on Sunday, which was attended by TMC national leaders Derek O'Brien and
Mahua Moitra. Speaking at the event, O'Brien said that the BJP-led central government does not listen to anyone and only believes in majoritarianism.
During a seminar on man-animal conflicts, Moitra said that the state govt was doing nothing to address the issue other than blaming the central government, which is also at fault. "The Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 has clear provisions under which the state can act. But the state govt is not implementing those powers," she added.
Meanwhile, the bishops of Sulthan Bathery and Thamarassery expressed their support for the causes of highlands farmers taken up by Trinamool Congress leader PV Anvar.
In a video message played at the convention, Thamarassery bishop Remigiose Inchananiyil said that Anvar's fight was against injustice and added that farmers should receive justice. The Bathery bishop also expressed support for the cause in another video message. IUML MLA N Shamsudheen also participated in the seminar held as part of the meeting tnn
