Lucknow: Scholarships were awarded to six meritorious students during Rang-e-Kamal Festival held on Saturday at the Dilkusha Kothi to mark birth anniversary of journalist late Kamal Khan. The event was held by Kamal Khan foundation in collaboration with department of culture, Uttar Pradesh.
Scholarships amounting Rs. 25,000 were presented by the Kamal Khan Foundation and Aaghaz Foundation to Pranjal Yadav (SRMCM), Sumaya Yadav (Class 12th), Faiza Hasan (Shia PG College) and Bilal Ahmed (Shakuntala Mishra University). The Kamal Khan Smriti Scholarship was conferred on Shubhi Tripathi and Mohammad Kaif, both BA second-year students from Lucknow University.
The highlight of the day was conversation between comedian and writer Zakir Khan and Dastango Himanshu Bajpayi. Reflecting on Kamal Khan's remarkable legacy, Zakir said, "I was a fan of Kamal Khan's journalism as his words carried weight of truth and grace of poetry. We all are truly fortunate, not just to have seen him, but to have known and met him too."
The evening also featured a Sufi dance drama based on Kabir's verses, directed by Preeti Tiwari and performed by Abhishek Singh, Shailee Maurya, Anshika Kataria, Mansi Mishra, Ankita Singh and Prerna Vishwakarma.
The event included screening of a short film ‘Dilkusha Pe Hi Kyun' and a documentary featuring heartfelt memories and tributes from Kamal Khan's close companions.
