Cloverleaf at Kamta, leaf at Outer Ring Road: Rajnath promises more projects
Lucknow: The newly constructed four-lane flyovers at Khurramnagar and Munshipulia are now open to traffic, providing much-needed relief to nearly five lakh residents of Indiranagar, Vikasnagar, Aliganj, and surrounding areas.
These flyovers are expected to ease congestion and enhance connectivity between Sitapur Road, Gomtinagar, Indiranagar, Jankipuram, and other key areas.
The flyovers are set to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and facilitate smoother commutes across the city.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rajnath Singh, MP from Lucknow, emphasised the govt's commitment to transforming the state capital's infrastructure. He stated, "With the addition of these flyovers, we are moving towards making Lucknow a world-class city. Several other infrastructure projects will soon be initiated."
Singh also placed key demands before Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, which were promptly accepted. These include the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor and a cloverleaf at Kamta to enhance connectivity to Gomtinagar Railway Terminus, a flyover at the Engineering College crossing on Sitapur Highway-24A, "leaf" structures at Outer Ring Road intersections to ease congestion, a "leaf" connecting the Kukrail and Khurramnagar flyovers, a cloverleaf at Samta-Moolak crossing to improve highway connectivity, and the development of an integrated traffic management plan for Lucknow with expert consultation.
The Munshipulia flyover, a 1.8 km-long four-lane structure built at a cost of Rs 171 crore, is expected to improve connectivity in areas such as Indiranagar, Manas Enclave, Munshipulia, Gomtinagar, Chinhat, Kamta, and Ismailganj. Similarly, the 2.7 km-long Khurramnagar flyover, constructed with an investment of Rs 240 crore, will benefit commuters travelling through IIM Road, Vikas Nagar, Kalyanpur, Aliganj, Kapoorthala, Kursi Road, and Gudamba.
Moreover, residents have already observed a positive impact, with smoother traffic movement and reduced congestion.
Saurabh Gupta, a resident of Vikasnagar, said that traffic jams previously consumed a large portion of his daily commute, but with the new flyovers, travel has become much smoother. Vimal Yadav, a commuter from Indiranagar, added that these flyovers not only save time and fuel but also make travel hassle-free for both residents and visitors from other districts.
