Lucknow: To streamline efforts for making Uttar Pradesh a USD 1 trillion economy by 2029, the govt decided to set up district OTD (one trillion dollar) cells in all 75 districts.
These cells are tasked with reviewing district-level efforts towards achieving goals aligned with the state's economic objectives and accelerating their contributions.
A senior govt official said their scope of work includes reviewing the production and productivity of agricultural and horticultural crops, milk production, productivity, and processing, the status of land allotment and approvals for industries, evaluating the establishment and operation of industrial units, regular monitoring of infrastructure development, monitoring industrial power consumption, and the progress of solar energy projects.
Other work includes reviewing software exports from the district, assessing newly established hotels, restaurants, and accommodation facilities, monitoring the registration of commercial vehicles and construction of bus terminals, coordinating with industries to identify skill needs, reviewing the number of tourists visiting the district, assessing district-level sales of petrol, diesel, and CNG etc.
The cells will be chaired by the respective district magistrates, who may also nominate eminent academicians and industrialists as members of the committee.
