Lucknow: Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Friday felicitated 112 employees of the department of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply for exemplary service during the recently concluded Maha Kumbh.
Singh called the Maha Kumbh a global hit and said the "brilliant management of the mega event was a barometer of the success of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath".
"As many as 66 crore people from across the globe visited the Maha Kumbh, and everyone was impressed by the seamless management and services extended to them. The fact that not one case of crime was reported at the event speaks volumes about the rule of law in the state under CM Yogi Adityanath's leadership," he said.
The employees of other agencies that worked with the department during the Maha Kumbh were also felicitated by the minister and additional chief secretary Anurag Srivastava.
The team was also lauded for setting up the ‘Swacchh Sujal Gaon' exhibition at the event to showcase the transformation of rural UP after the advent of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Har Ghar Nal scheme.
Singh praised the exhibition for brilliantly showcasing the various initiatives of the department.
Srivastava attributed the success of the exhibition to the hard work of the employees, saying that it drew appreciation from all visitors.
The minister also launched the Jal Samadhan Portal and said it will help people apply for water connections easily and register and track complaints related to water supply.
The portal can be accessed by logging in through Jalsamadhan.in. A toll-free number, 180012121614, was also launched on Friday.
