Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner directs all panchayats to hold special Gram Sabhas on March 29 and 30

LUDHIANA: On the directions of the Punjab government, the district administration has ordered all panchayats to hold Special Gram Sabhas on March 29 and 30 to prepare their development plans for the 2025-26 financial year.
In a meeting with various departments, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain emphasized the importance of villagers’ participation in Gram Sabhas. He encouraged everyone to contribute to decisions regarding development projects for their community.
Jain emphasized that the Punjab government has compiled a list of development projects. These works include the construction of playgrounds, parks with nurseries, ponds for liquid waste management, solid waste management systems, buildings for gram panchayats with rural haats, community toilets, Anganwadi centers, bus stands, community structures for self-help groups (SHGs), libraries, and initiatives for tree plantation in villages. Resolutions can be passed for these development projects or any other necessary works during the sessions of Gram Sabhas.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all panchayats in Ludhiana to convene Gram Sabha sessions on March 29 and 30 as this will allow for a significant advancement in the village's development efforts.
