Southern Railway has announced special trains to clear extra rush during Tamil New Year, Vishu, Good Friday, and summer holidays.
Train no. 06089 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Kanniyakumari weekly special will leave Chennai Central at 7pm on April 10 and 17 and reach Kanniyakumari at 10am the next day. Train no. 06090 Kanniyakumari – Dr MGR Chennai Central weekly special will leave Kanniyakumari at 8pm on April 11 and 18 and reach Chennai Central at 11am the next day. The trains will stop at Arakonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, and Nagercoil.
Train no. 06027 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Podanur superfast special will leave Chennai Central at 11.50pm on April 11 and reach Podanur at 8.30am the next day while train no. 06028 Podanur – Dr MGR Chennai Central superfast special will leave Podanur at 11.30pm on April 14 and reach Chennai Central at 8.20am the next day. The trains will stop at Perambur, Tiruvallur, Arakonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur.
Train no. 06185 Tambaram – Podanur weekly special will leave Tambaram at 5.05pm on April 11, 18, 25, and May 2 and reach Podanur at 7.45am the next day. The return train will leave Podanur at 11.55pm on April 13, 20, 27, and May 4 and reach Tambaram at 12.15pm the next day. The trains will stop at Chengalpattu, Melmarvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Panruti, Tirupadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Trichy, Dindigul, Oddanchathiram, Palani, Udumalaipettai, Pollachi, and Kinathukadavu.
The zonal railway also announced the extension of Tirunelveli – Mettupalayam special operated on Sundays from April 13 to May 4, and the return train from April 14 to May 5.
