2 arrested for illegal cricket betting

Udupi: Kota police arrested two people for allegedly engaging in betting for an IPL cricket match. The accused are Kiran and Shantarama. On Monday, Raghavendra C, sub-inspector at Kota police station, received information that a group of youths gathered near the Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Tekkatte village, Kundapur Taluk, and were engaged in betting for the IPL T20 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.Acting on this tip-off, he reached the spot and found Kiran, Shantarama, Ajith, and Vivek illegally placing bets through the ‘Parker' cricket betting website by announcing team names like SRH and DC while holding mobile phones.Police seized two mobile phones used for betting and Rs 4,000 cash from the accused. A case was registered at Kota police station.
