Mangaluru: District minister Dinesh Gundu Rao lashed out at the
BJP over the Suhas Shetty murder, and claimed that a rowdy sheet against Shetty was opened when
Basavaraj Bommai was the home minister.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, who released the order copy issued by the police department to open a rowdy sheet on Shetty, wrote on X: "The rowdy sheet against Suhas Shetty was opened in 2020, when the govt in power was that of the BJP, and the Home Minister was Basavaraj Bommai.
The same BJP that today portrays Suhas as a martyr, why did they label him a rowdy back then?" he questioned.
He accused the BJP of turning the coastal region into a communal laboratory. "They are the true creators of criminals, creating them while in power, opening rowdy sheets against them, and then, the moment they die, glorifying those same individuals as martyrs and saints. After Suhas's murder, BJP leaders are crying hoarse and mourning, but are any of their children fighting in the streets under the influence of religion? Are they fighting for religion? No. It is the children of the poor who are becoming victims on the street, victims of the BJP's religious fanaticism. Isn't this the truth?" the minister asked.
Many lives were lost to the BJP's vile politics in the coastal region. Countless homes were left in darkness. They continue to engage in malicious politics, wanting even more dead in the region, he said.
The people of Dakshina Kannada are aware, and it is time the people of the coast recognise the BJP's conspiracies, he said.
Security strengthened
Mangaluru City police, as a precautionary measure, asked all shops and hotels to close down early on Monday night. Sources said that security was tightened across the city in an attempt to prevent any untoward incident. General checking was also conducted.
