Operation Sindoor: India avenges Pahalgam terror attack, strikes nine sites in Pakistan

NEW DELHI: Indian Armed Forces launched "Operation Sindoor" in the early hours of Wednesday launching strikes at nine sites and targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This came in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen on April 22."A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'OPERATION SINDOOR', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted," the central government said in a press statement.Also read: Full list of 9 terror sites targeted by Indian Army in Pakistan, PoKIt added that the actions were "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature," adding that "no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.""Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution," the statement said."These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable," it added.In a high-level meeting with top defence officials on April 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the armed forces full operational freedom to choose the mode, targets, and timing of the response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
