Shamli: Mukim Kala gang shooter Doctor Israr was sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in a 2014 murder case.
Officials said that, on Nov 12 in 2014, Mohammad Talib in Khurgan village was shot dead by members of the Mukim Gang, including Israr. Talib was targeted for pursuing a murder case involving his brother Zulfaan, who was killed by the gang in 2011.
The case was registered at the Kairana police station under IPC sections 147 (Rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (Unlawful assembly), 307 (Attempt to murder), and 302 (Murder) based on a complaint filed by Talib's brother Mohammad Furqan.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday evening by the additional district and sessions judge of a local court in Shamli district.
District Govt Counsel (DGC) Sanjay Chauhan told TOI, "Judge Ritu Nagar sentenced Israr to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 27,000. In case of non-payment of the fine, an additional two years of imprisonment will be imposed."
Officials said that Israr was a notorious criminal closely associated with Mukim Kala, who was killed in a gang war in Chitrakoot Jail in May 2021. Israr, currently lodged in Baghpat Jail, reportedly has over 20 serious cases registered against him.
DGC Chauhan further added that Israr's sentencing was conducted via video conferencing—the first in Shamli district. In April 2016, Israr escaped from Haryana Police custody during a court appearance in Kairana but was arrested two months later from Panipat.
