Wild elephants, bison create fear among villagers
Madikeri: Wild elephants are roaming freely in coffee plantations and damaging crops in Karadigodu village. "A herd of wild elephants roamed around the coffee plantation of Charimanda Thammaiah in Karadigodu village, destroying agricultural crops. They uprooted and trampled on areca trees and damaged the sprinkler pipes that water the coffee plantation. This led to a lot of losses," Thammaiah said.
The villagers in Karadigodu are also facing issues from bison along with elephant. Villagers said that it has created a situation of anxiety for workers to enter the coffee plantation to work. The villagers mentioned that since the wild elephants roam around the coffee plantation every night, they are unable to leave their houses at night. Locals have demanded the forest officials to act immediately.
