Hassan: Bengaluru-based Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi director BG Shivaraju said young people have tremendous potential to achieve success and they should curb overuse of mobile phones.
Shivaraju was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Spandana' project, organised by Jan Kalyan Research and Charitable Trust and Paripoorna Charitable Trust in Hassan on Monday. He said whilst India has a rich cultural heritage, its youth appear misguided. He stressed that service and sacrifice constitute true wealth, referencing the teachings of Vivekananda and Gandhi.
Manjegowda, who leads the Vidyasoudha Group of Institutions, highlighted the importance of competitive spirit amongst youth whilst maintaining grace in defeat. He reminded students to value parental support despite external criticism. Dr M B Irshad shared his experience as a scholarship recipient and stressed the importance of giving back to society. He regarded Dr Gururaj Hebbar as a significant historical figure. B V Karigowda, former MLA and President of Jan Kalyan Research and Charitable Trust, Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Dr B C Ravikumar, Prof H V Lakshminarayana and others were present.
