Need to promote service sector industries, tourism in Nashik: Bhujbal
Nashik: Former deputy chief minister and NCP MLA Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday advocated for prioritizing service-sector industries over polluting factories in Nashik.
Speaking during the inauguration of a hotel on Gangapur Road, Bhujbal emphasized Nashik's favourable climate and religious importance, highlighting the significant potential for tourism. "We are focusing on promoting tourism and service-based industries, rather than smoke-emitting factories," he said.
He added that many important development works were carried out here, including a boat club, flyover, airport, ring road, and development of religious places.
It should be noted that the boat club constructed on the backwater of the Gangapur Dam is Bhujbal's brainchild. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) built the boat club on the backwater of Gangapur Dam, a few kilometres from Nashik city.
It became operational around four years ago in Dec 2020 and has become a popular spot among the tourists. Bhujbal also took the initiative in developing the Nashik airport jointly with the defence PSU, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, in 2013-14.
Bhujbal was then the PWD minister at that time. State govt had invested Rs84 crore to build the airport terminal in Nashik, while HAL invested Rs 10 crore.
