Cong stages dharna outside ED office to protest action in National Herald case
Patna: The Congress members staged a dharna near the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Patna on Wednesday to protest the chargesheet filed against their leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The Congress workers also smeared black paint on the ED board at its main gate.
The Congress functionaries, led by state president Rajesh Kumar; CLP leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan; and in charge of AICC Bihar, Krishna Allavaru, earlier started a protest march from Income Tax roundabout to the ED office near Gandhi Maidan.
They raised slogans against the central govt, alleging misuse of the investigation agency against their leaders Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case out of political vendetta.

Allavaru said their fight was against injustice as the Narendra Modi govt at the Centre was misusing the central agencies as its pet. "The NDA govt is harassing the opposition leaders through the central agencies. We have been forced to come out on the streets. We will fight against the injustice," he said, adding, "Jab jab Modi ji darte hain, ED ko aage karte hain (whenever PM Modi gets scared, he uses the ED)."
Congress legislature party (CLP) leader in the assembly, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, said the NDA govt was acting against the democratic system in the country. "Questions are asked in a democratic system. No answers are received when questions are asked inside and outside Parliament. In return, the opposition leaders are being harassed. Neither the Congress nor the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar is going to panic or break from their actions," he said.
Reacting to the Congress protest, BJP leader and deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said the grand old party looted the country. "The Congress has blackened former PM Manmohan Singh and its own face. Singh had formed the ED and the Congress has made a mockery of it," he said.
