Chhapra: Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the
Indian Air Force (IAF) is going to present a thrilling air show over the JP Ganga Path in Patna on Vijay Diwas on April 23.
Vijay Diwas is observed to celebrate the victory of freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh over British troops.
Saran MP, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who is the main coordinator of this event, said the programme has received formal approval from defence minister Rajnath Singh.
He said, "Patna district magistrate would chair the meeting, which would be attended by senior officers from the IAF, municipal corporation, district and police administration on Tuesday at the Patna Collectorate."
Rudy said CM Nitish Kumar and deputy CMs have been invited as the chief guest and special guests respectively for the April 23 event.
Giving details of the programme, Rudy said in this demonstration nine IAF aircraft will fly from Bihta air force station and perform aerial stunts over the JP Ganga Path. The aerobatic movements will inspire the youths to serve the country as well as pay tribute to the bravery of Veer Kunwar Singh. The show will also instill a spirit of patriotism among the youths.
In his last battle fought on April 23, 1858 near Jagdishpur, Kunwar Singh had defeated the troops of the British East India Company. After victory over the British troops, he brought down the Union Jack from Jagdishpur Fort and hoisted his own flag. Because of his victory, April 23 is observed as ‘Vijay Diwas' by the Bihar govt.
