Boy among 10 held for triple murder in Puducherry
PUDUCHERRY: Ten people, including a boy and a notorious rowdy, were arrested in Puducherry on Sunday on charges of murdering three members of a rival gang.
The arrested included S Sathya, 27, of Rainbow Nagar who faces 16 cases including five murders and an attempt to murder. His aides also face several criminal cases.
The murdered have been identified as D Raasi, 19, of Oulgaret, son of notorious rowdy Desthan who was murdered in Oct 2009, ‘Panni’ Deva alias S Deva Kumar, 21, of Thedir Nagar and P Aadhi alias Aadithya, 20, of Moolakulam.
On Friday, police received information that three people were lying in a pool of blood in a dilapidated house in Rainbow Nagar. A team from Grand Bazaar police station reached the house and found that two people had been hacked to death and a man was battling for life. The team rushed the injured man to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute where he died later.
The police produced nine of the arrested before a judicial magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody. They produced the minor boy before the juvenile justice board, which sent him to an observation home.
The police formed special teams to nab others involved in the crime.
SSP (C & I) Narra Chaitanya lauded SP (east) R Ragunayagam, Grand Bazaar inspector A Jayasankar and members of the special teams for identifying and arresting the main culprits involved in the crime.
