Two from Punjab held with cocaine worth Rs 29L in Gandhidham
Rajkot: Two men, natives of Punjab, were arrested with 29 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 29 lakh from a guest house in Gandhidham town of Kutch district in the early hours of Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Gandhidham City B Division police arrested the duo — Jaswinder Singh (48) and Satnam Singh (22) — from Mukesh Guest House.
According to the police complaint filed by sub-inspector L.N Vadhia of Gandhidham City B Division police station, the operation was based on intelligence about two men from Punjab allegedly possessing narcotics and staying near the Gandhidham Bus Station. Both suspects are residents of Tarn Taran district in Punjab. Forensic experts later confirmed that the substance seized from their room was cocaine.
The Gandhidham police have taken both suspects into custody and are interrogating them to trace the origin of the drugs and identify the intended recipients in Kutch. Investigators are also probing whether the duo had any prior involvement in drug trafficking.
The two have been charged under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
