19-year-old youth drowns in water-filled mine

Bokaro: A man identified as Saurabh Kumar (19) drowned while bathing in a water-filled mine behind the firing range under Sector 12 police station on Thursday. His body was fished out on Friday.
The deceased had come from Motihari with his mother to attend a janeu ceremony (Hindu ritual) at Adarsh Cooperative in Bokaro.
According to residents, Saurabh went out for a walk with four friends and, during the outing, decided to take a dip in the water-filled mine that looked like a pond. Unaware of its depth, he ventured into the water and drowned. Friends tried to rescue him, but their efforts failed. Police have sent the body for postmortem and initiated an investigation into the incident.
