Jamshedpur: Former chief minister
Champai Soren has emphasised that the upcoming budget session of the Hemant Soren govt will be crucial in demonstrating the INDIA bloc's commitment to its promised welfare schemes.
Speaking to the media in Seraikela on Sunday, Champai said BJP, as the main opposition party, would scrutinize the budget announcements closely to ensure adherence to the election promises. "our budget session strategy will be formulated after the budget presentation in the house," he said.
Champai highlighted that BJP was concerned about irregular fund disbursement under key welfare initiatives of the govt. He pointed out that beneficiaries of the Maiya Samman Yojna (MSY) have not received payments for three consecutive months. "This delay in releasing funds to women beneficiaries is concerning and we are monitoring the situation," he said.
The former CM also raised issues regarding delayed payments under the old age pension scheme, suggesting that the govt should consider increasing the pension amount.
When questioned about BJP's internal matters, including the appointment of the leader of the opposition, Champai dismissed concerns saying, "As a large organisation, such processes are normal in BJP. The leader's name will be announced at an appropriate time," he said during a ‘van bhoj' event organised by the party's Mahila Morcha at Sapra.
The former CM's statements came as the state govt prepares for a crucial budget session that will test its ability to fulfil its pre-election promises and implement effective welfare measures for the people.
