Bokaro: Bokaro police have launched a crackdown on motorcycles with modified silencers that create excessive noise. SP Manoj Swargiyari has directed all station in-charges to take strict action against offenders and seize their vehicles.
The campaign, overseen by the traffic DSP, targets both riders and mechanics involved in these illegal modifications. The initiative comes as a response to growing complaints about noise pollution affecting residents, particularly the elderly, sick, women, and children.
"Strict action will be taken against those who modify bike silencers to create loud sounds resembling firecrackers or gunfire," stated the SP. The traffic DSP has been specifically tasked with enforcing measures against such violations.
Police station in-charges and patrol teams have been instructed to identify and apprehend offenders, with seized vehicles to be released only after completing legal formalities. The authorities are also tracking down mechanics responsible for these modifications.
