'Inhumane act of violence, words fail to express sadness': Shah Rukh Khan on Pahalgam attack
NEW DELHI: Actor Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday condemned the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, calling it an “inhumane act of violence” and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

The attack, which occurred at a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir on Tuesday, claimed the lives of at least 28 people, most of them tourists.
It marks the deadliest assault in the region since the 2019 Pulwama terror strike that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Taking to X, Shah Rukh shared his grief and outrage over the incident.

Should celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan speak out on political issues such as terrorism?

"Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam.
"In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we as a Nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act," he wrote.
In response to the attack, several districts across the Jammu region observed a complete shutdown on Wednesday, according to officials.
The shutdown was enforced not just in Jammu city but also in Reasi, Udhampur, Katra, Kathua, and Samba.
Protests erupted across parts of Jammu, where demonstrators raised anti-Pakistan slogans in condemnation of the violence.
One of the deadliest terror attacks
In the deadliest terror strike to hit Jammu & Kashmir since the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, at least 28 tourists were killed and several others injured on Tuesday afternoon in an ambush at Baisaran meadow, a popular tourist destination near Pahalgam.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-backed outfit widely seen as a front for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to eyewitnesses, six suspected foreign militants disguised in Indian Army uniforms launched the assault around 1.30pm, specifically targeting tourists after asking them to recite Islamic verses—a chilling detail shared by survivors.
The massacre's timing raised eyebrows, coming just as US Vice-President JD Vance touched down in India for a four-day visit, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Saudi Arabia to strengthen diplomatic relations with the Gulf nation.
The attack also followed closely on the heels of a provocative address by Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir, which had already heightened tensions between the two countries.
Security experts believe the coordinated strike was aimed at drawing global attention to Kashmir and framing it as a volatile region in need of international focus.
