26-year-old man killed in Surat after clash over Instagram message; six held

SURAT: Dumas police arrested six persons, including two minors, for the alleged murder of a 26-year-old man, Stevon Ghantiwala, on Tuesday night.
The slaying came after one of the accused, Dhruv Rathod (19), purportedly sent a message to the girlfriend of one Dev Khalasi, on Instagram. When Dev reproached him, Dhruv's minor friend threatened Dev, and told him to meet them at Langar Circle.
Dev and his friends, including Ghantiwala, went there and were attacked. Ghantiwala died from wounds caused by a bladed weapon to his neck.
According to the complaint, Dev Khalasi and his friends Stevon Ghantiwala, Robin Khalasi and Vansh Khalasi were at Teen Batti Chowk at 10pm on Tuesday.
The accused minor repeatedly called Dev and threatened him about him rebuking Dhruv. Dev told the minor that Dhruv had sent his girlfriend a message on Instagram and he merely told him not to do so.
The minor then abused Dev and told them to meet him near Langar Circle. The four friends then went there, where Ankit Rathod, Shravan Rathod, Dhruv Rathod, Shiv Rathod and the two minors were waiting. Stevon then told the minor not to threaten Dev.
The minor and his friends allegedly started attacking all four. When they tried to defend themselves, one of the minors struck Stevon with a bladed weapon, wounding him in the throat. The minor then attacked Robin, Dev and Vansh, wounding them.
The six accused then fled the scene. Stevon was taken to a private hospital along with the others by moped but succumbed to his wounds.
Dumas police have detained all six accused, including the minors, and booked them for murder.
