Four held for abducting minor boy
Thiruvananthapuram: Mangalapuram police arrested four youths for abducting a 14-year-old boy from his house on Tuesday night.
Police identified the arrested individuals as Ashwini Dev, 23, Sreejith, 23, Abhiram, 20, and Abhiraj, 22, who are siblings. The accused are natives of Kudavoor near Vengode. They were remanded in judicial custody on charges under section 140 of BNS for abduction and 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt.
The accused were reportedly annoyed after the boy questioned Dev for harassing a girl, who is his classmate. They abducted him due to this enmity, police said.
The accused arrived at the house in a car at 7:30pm and forcefully took the boy in the vehicle. The family members and locals tried to stop them and alerted the police. Using the tower location of the boy's mobile phone, the police discovered that they were in a rubber plantation at Keezhattingal and Kadakkavoor police were alerted.
The accused were soon arrested and the boy was handed over to his parents after due procedures. The boy, who suffered a minor injury, was given necessary medical care.
