Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, recently celebrated a significant win for the Maine fishing community after the Trump administration agreed to renegotiate funding for the Maine Sea Grant. As a proud daughter of a Maine fisherman, Hudson had been actively advocating for the program, which faced abrupt cuts last Saturday, leaving the state's fishing industry in turmoil.
Jordon Hudson Celebrates Victory as Trump Administration Renegotiates Maine Sea Grant Funding
Jordon Hudson, a former national champion cheerleader, took to Instagram to share the “most wonderful news,” expressing gratitude towards Maine Senator Susan Collins and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnik. “The Fisherman Have Been Heard!” she wrote, adding hashtags like “Trump Does Love Fishermen” and “Save Maine Fishermen.” Her post included a photo of her alongside Collins, highlighting the senator’s dedication to supporting Maine’s fishing industry.
The news of the funding cut sent shockwaves through the Maine Fishermen’s Forum, which marked its 50th gathering in Rockport. Hudson was at the forefront of discussions, speaking on behalf of the fishing community and raising concerns about the devastating impact of losing a program that had been a cornerstone of marine research and economic growth for over five decades.
Belichick, dressed in a blue Tar Heels sweatshirt, was seen standing by Hudson’s side, offering his support. The couple, who made their relationship public last June, were pictured together on a private plane, as shared in Hudson’s Instagram post.
Beyond her presence at the forum, Hudson made direct appeals to the White House and former President Donald Trump, urging them to reinstate the Maine Sea Grant or provide a viable alternative. She emphasized the destructive impact of “reckless regulatory decisions by government officials,” highlighting how such policies had already driven her father—part of a ninth-generation fishing lineage—out of the industry 15 years ago.
“The news came like a tsunami to the Forum on Saturday that the federal funding program ‘Maine Sea Grant,’ was abruptly cut. This program has been a pillar of support for marine research, sustainability, and economic growth for more than 50 years,” Hudson wrote in a separate Instagram post. “The forum floors filled with tears and fears as if everyone were drowning, and we were.”
With pressure mounting, the Trump administration eventually agreed to reconsider the funding, marking a victory for Hudson and the Maine fishing industry. Her efforts underscored the critical role of grassroots advocacy in shaping policy decisions that directly impact local communities.
Hudson’s passion for the issue has been evident not just in her public statements but also in her personal life. Last October, she and Belichick playfully embraced the theme, dressing as a fisherman and a mermaid for Halloween—a nod to her deep-rooted connection to Maine’s maritime heritage.
