Attempt to smuggle 6.5tonnes of ration rice foiled
Police on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle 6.5 tonnes of ration rice in two mini trucks from Karur to Kerala for an illegal sale. They intercepted the vehicles near the Thanthonimalai area in Karur district and arrested B Mohammed Ismail, A Mohammed Ziauddin, and S Mohan, all from Pallapatti in the district. Further investigation is on to nab the members of the smuggling network.
