FIR filed against two for building collapse

Vadodara: A complaint was registered against two men at Laxmipura police station, for the building that collapsed on Samta Road late on Sunday night. Police filed an FIR against Mahesh Gajera and Mohammed Pathan, for allegedly endangering the lives of the residents of Surya Kiran Apartments.
According to the FIR filed by Rameshchandra Gupta, a resident of the building, the accused had been told several times not to carry out renovation work on the ground floor. The accused even removed a wall during the renovation. Civic officials said they had issued three notices to the building residents to vacate the 33-year-old structure as it was not in good condition.
On Sunday night, the building collapsed. All the residents got out safely in time.
