Varanasi: Rebooting the party's Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe wing for a major victory in the 2027 assembly elections,
BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh said that the most oppression of Dalits occurred during the Samajwadi Party govt.
Following consultations with district and divisional unit office-bearers of Varanasi district and city units at the party's Kashi regional unit office at Rohania here on Monday, Singh addressed a meeting of 337 divisional unit presidents from 16 districts of the Kashi region. He emphasised the formation of effective division committees.
Keeping the SP supremo on target, Singh said, "During
Akhilesh Yadav's rule, UP became a centre of Dalit oppression and false cases were filed against them. Today, by trying to equate himself with Dr BR
Ambedkar, Akhilesh has insulted him. Under the SP govt, Muslim appeasement, state-protected crime, corruption and casteism led to the most oppression of the SC."
"Appeasement of Muslims and caste-based division of Hindus is the sole agenda of the opposition. Akhilesh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are trying to create caste-based conflicts to weaken the country in an attempt to save their family's political legacy," he said. He added that Congress always opposed Ambedkar, did not allow his last rites in Delhi and kept amending the constitution for its selfish interests. By using Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress worked to abolish all constitutional rights, including reservations for the SC and ST, he added. Mentioning how BJP always worked to ensure the economic, social uplift and political participation of the SC/ST, he said this is why representation from these communities has been ensured in the country's highest positions. The BJP consistently strengthened all constitutional rights, including reservation for the SC, as provided by Ambedkar. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is following the path of Ambedkar. Modi washed the feet of sanitation workers, honouring them and sending a message to the world that no person or work is insignificant in Indian cultural values. Atal Bihari Vajpayee initiated the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to ensure compulsory education for all, realising Dr Ambedkar's dreams. During the Covid-19, free ration was provided to ensure no poor or marginalised person went hungry, he added.
He stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the BJP govt has developed places associated with Ambedkar as Panchteerth, paying grateful tribute. A postage stamp was issued and the BHIM app was launched in Dr Ambedkar's name. He emphasised the need for public outreach regarding the BJP's work for Ambedkar's honour and the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes. BJP's dedicated workers must also work to dispel the confusion and lies spread by the opposition. They should reach out to every household and individual, exposing the opposition's dark deeds and dangerous plans to the public. Everyone must be connected to the party and work towards fulfilling Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India.
While interacting with divisional unit presidents, Singh emphasised the formation of divisional committees with proper representation of all castes concerned. Effective division structures will create strong power centres, which will be instrumental in building strong booths, he said, adding that the structure of strong booths will be key to a major victory for the BJP in 2027. He stressed the importance of ensuring that all capable workers are included in the division committee.
Earlier, BJP regional president Dilip Patel welcomed him, while Sanjay Sonkar conducted the programme. MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, city chief Pradeep Agrahari, Ashok Chaurasia, Anil Srivastava and Navratan Rathi also remained present.
