Man, 3 kids drown in Pedda Cheruvu

Tirupati: Three children and a 36-year-old man drowned near Pedda Cheruvu in Mulakalacheruvu at Annamayya district on Saturday. According to the local police, one Mallesh had gone to the Pedda Cheruvu along with his wife Eswaramma, two children Lavanya (12) and Nanda Kishore (10). The family was accompanied by their neighbours' kid Nanditha (11). On Saturday, when Eswaramma was busy washing clothes, the three children went into the Pedda Cheruvu waters and were swept away. Mallesh, who caught sight of the kids being taken away by the water current, jumped into the Cheruvu to rescue them. However, he too was washed away in the water. After Eswaramma called out for help, locals rushed to the spot. However, by then, all the four persons had drowned. Later, Mulakalacheruvu police was informed about the incident. Police reached the spot and retrieved the bodies from the waters.TNN
