Woman booked for strangling 6-yr-old stepson

Vijayawada: A woman was booked for torturing her stepsons, which eventually led to the death of the younger sibling. The deceased was identified as 6-year-old Karthik. The incident was reported in Phirangipuram of Guntur district.
According to Phirangipuram inspector Ravindra Babu, one Kancherla Sagar of Kondaveedu village in Edlapadu mandal, had married Lakshmi from Phirangipuram about eight months ago, after his first wife and mother of his twin sons Akash and Karthik died due to health issues. Later, Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl.
It was said that Lakshmi resented both her stepsons from the beginning of her married life with Sagar. She repeatedly subjected the boys of sever physical abuses and allegedly wanted to get rid of them.
The women often struck them with belts and sticks, thus leaving them injured. However, Sagar never intervened in the matter and had reportedly turned a blind eye in the matter, fearing Lakshmi's rage. Hence, the woman continued to abuse the boys.
On Sunday, Lakshmi brutally beat Karthik on his head with a wooden stick. Later, she strangled him while she branded his brother Akash with a hot spoon.
The incident came to light after a woman named Goshala Vijaya lodged a complaint.
Police registered a case and started investigating into the matter. They are currently interrogating Lakshmi and Sagar to determine the full extent of their involvement.
