Visakhapatnam Central Prison were released on interim bail orders by the court orders on Tuesday evening. They were released on the orders of the Supreme Court and AP high court in the process of control the Covid-19.
According to the Central Prison superintendent S Rahul, 74 prisoners, including 53 remand and 21 convicted prisoners, were released by the Seventh Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Visakhapatnam magistrate Jagadish Kumar had given bail orders.
The central prison in Vizag is overcrowded round the year with many ganja smugglers and others, apart from the other criminal cases convicts.
