Renowned South Indian director Shankar, celebrated for his numerous blockbuster films, is gearing up to direct a new project based on the Velpari novel by SU Venkatesan. According to the latest report from Valai Pechu,
Shankar is planning to cast two of the biggest stars in South Indian cinema, Chiyaan Vikram and
Suriya, for this historical drama. The news has already created a buzz among fans, as the prospect of seeing these two powerhouse actors share the screen under Shankar’s visionary direction is expected to generate tremendous excitement and anticipation.
If everything falls into place, this film would mark the third collaboration between Shankar and Vikram, who have previously delivered memorable films like 'Anniyan' and 'I'.
For Suriya, on the other hand, this would be his first project with the esteemed director, making the potential team-up all the more special. Moreover, this film would reunite
Vikram and Suriya on screen after almost two decades since their last appearance together in Bala’s critically acclaimed Pithamagan, which was released in 2003. Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation from both actors as this could be one of the most highly anticipated films in Tamil cinema.
It’s worth noting that Shankar recently issued a public statement cautioning other filmmakers against adapting the Velpari novel, as he holds the exclusive rights to the story. This indicates the significance and dedication he is bringing to this project, aiming to make it a grand cinematic experience. Meanwhile, Shankar is currently focused on his upcoming film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan in the lead role, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20. He also has Indian 3 lined up, and it's anticipated that he will need an additional four months to complete these commitments before officially beginning work on the Velpari project.
Fans are eagerly looking forward to this ambitious film, as the combination of Shankar’s directorial prowess and the star power of Vikram and Suriya could set new benchmarks in Tamil cinema.
