ASSEMBLY ELECTION RESULTS 2025

Delhi went to the polls in a single phase on Wednesday, February 5, with voting held across all 70 assembly seats. As the national capital gears up for the results on February 8, all eyes are on the outcome, particularly after exit polls sparked intense speculation.

The high-stakes campaign saw key political heavyweights, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, making their pitch to voters. The contest has been closely watched, with major parties leaving no stone unturned.

Exit polls indicate that the BJP is poised to return to power in Delhi after 27 years, with the last saffron party chief minister being the late Sushma Swaraj. If these projections hold, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may lose its grip on the capital, preventing Arvind Kejriwal from securing a record fourth term, a milestone that would have surpassed the late Congress leader Sheila Dikshit’s tenure.

For the Congress, prospects remain bleak, with most surveys predicting no more than a couple of seats. Chanakya Strategies has given the party a maximum of three seats, while Peoples Pulse-Codema and DV Research have projected a complete wipeout.

The counting of votes will take place at 19 centres across Delhi on February 8. Chief electoral officer R Alice Vaz confirmed that electronic voting machines (EVMs) from all 70 constituencies have been securely stored in strong rooms under multi-layered security.

These EVMs, containing votes cast by over 60% of Delhi’s 1.56 crore voters, were transported under heavy security immediately after polling concluded.
