Ayan Chakraborty directs film on favouritism controversy

The ongoing controversy of favouritism in the entertainment industry will soon be seen in a film. Mayabhuban, a telefilm directed by Ayan Chakraborty, tells a story of an aspiring actress who comes from a town and makes her way to the industry. The film features Sandipta Sen as the protagonist Maya along with Shaheb Bhattacherjee.
Elaborating her character, the actress said, “Maya comes from a small town and she dreams to be a serial actress.He was under the impression that only the kids from insiders make it big in the industry. The ‘outsiders’ don’t stand much chance. However, the gritty and positive girl that Maya is, she doesn’t give up and finally gets a chance.”
Besides directing the film, Ayan has also penned the script. He said, “Just having a family name can only lead you up to a point. Prosenjit Chatterjee is not a superstar only because of his father, Bishwajit Chatterjee. It needs patience, diligence, passion and curiosity for the art to succeed. And this is true not just for Tollywood but even for Bollywood. That is why Ritwick Chakraborty could make a name for himself despite being a rank outsider. This is what I believe in and that got reflected in my script.”
