Kolkata, tumio hente dekho/Kolkata, tumio bhebe dekho
ANUPAM MAGIC: As Roy boy Anupam heartthrob of a generation of music lovers wielded the mic, the motley audience gathered at a city mall on Wednesday evening was all geared up to sway to the tunes. By the end of the performance at the music launch of Prakton, they couldnt stop asking for an encore.
Such was the songs impact, even actor Prosenjit Chatterjee broke into a jig and had for company not just the adorable child actor Aveepsha Basak, but also his co-star Rituparna Senguptas daughter, Rishona Niya.
STARRY GATHERING: Both Prosenjit and Rituparna got the crowd into the groove and had the rest of the cast Biswanath Basu, Manali Dey, Aparajita Adhya dancing along. The album was launched by Dr Rupali Basu, CEO Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata. Since Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals have always supported literature and entertainment, Rupali expressed her happiness in being associated with Prakton. Producers Atanu Raychaudhuri, Probhat Roy and Pranab Guha were seen smiling from ear to ear as crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the starry gala. Said Atanu, Iman Chakraborty, who has sung Tumi jake bhalobasho, is the find of 2016. Also, Anupams song is perhaps the first original number on our city. Most songs on Kolkata are copies. The song has the potential to be on the music charts for the next five years.
GOING CLICK-HAPPY: Chandrabindoo frontman Anindya Chattopadhyay, who has scored the films music alongside Anupam, looked happy with the albums response. My video of my song, Tomar sathe amar katha nei, too will be uploaded on YouTube soon, he told us. Anindya was accompanied by his compatriots Surojit Chatterjee and Upal Sengupta, who have acted in the movie, and together, the four musicians set the stage on fire. Directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee obliged their fans by clicking selfies in plenty. Prakton, produced by Windows, releases on May 27.
