Director Amartya Bhattacharyya’s Indo-French film Adieu GODARD has been screened at the 27
th Kolkata International Film festival on Friday and the director was quite excited about it. The film world premiered at the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival and received a number of international awards.
Shot in Odisha, the film is a socio-cultural comic tribute to the legendary French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard.
Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Sudharsri Madhusmita, Swastik Choudhury, Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Shankar Basu Mallick, Abhishek Giri, Swetapadma Satpathy and Banikanta Mishra have acted in the film.
The film is a socio-cultural comic tribute to the legendary French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. “It is based on an old man named Ananda, who happens to be addicted and secretly watches pornography with some friends in a conservative Indian village. One day, they accidentally come across a film by Godard thinking it was pornography. Though his friends were disgusted, Ananda gets attracted to Godard’s film and gradually develops an obsession,” said Amartya. He initiates the idea of hosting a film festival in their village where Godard’s films will be screened. The festival gets organized after a lot of drama, but what happens next is to be seen.
