Anubhav Kanjilal and
Anuska Chakraborty are pairing up for an intense socio-political drama. With the backdrop of Chiit Mahal, the no man’s land between India and Bangladesh, director Sujay Pal and Angsuman Banerji have come up with their new film titled ‘Dafaan’. The film stars Anubhav Kanjilal, Anuska Chakraborty,
Ankita Chakraborty, Debesh Roy Chowdhury and
Remoo among others in key roles.
Speaking about the film actor Anubhav shared he’s looking forward to the shoot, "The twisting plot of ‘Dafaan’ sees three gunmen and a woman hijack an ambulance carrying a pregnant lady with her husband in the middle of the night.
The group, seemingly an extremist one, is on a mission as to shake the government. With the most thrilling twist and turns, ups and downs the story reveals the psycho-dynamics of the characters and the stories of our socio-political hypocrisy."
He further adds, “Most of the shooting will done in and around Kolkata. We are working really hard to make the ambulance scenes as relatable as it can be. I won’t divulge much but there’s an interesting twist in the climax and this will surely leave the audience speechless. The story also holds a mirror to our society suffering from an existential crisis."
According to the director duo, it will be a most engaging visual treat for the audience, with a blend of realism, surrealism, and magic reality. With Sumana Kanjilal, Ehasaas and Angsuman Banerji binding the creative knots, Subhodeep Naskar will be handling the camera to create yet another enchanting painterly on-screen. Amit Ishan will compose the background score. The shooting will start on February 26.
