‘DIN RATRIR GOLPO’, Bengal’s first space fiction film

It’s the first time Tollywood would get to taste a space fiction film with Prosenjit Choudhury’s feature film ‘DIN RATRIR GOLPO’. The film is all about Suzan, an ailing Nun, who is reminiscing over two incidents of her life.
‘DIN RATRIR GOLPO’ has an ensemble cast including Rajatava Dutta, Supriti Choudhury, Pradip Mukherjee, Debesh Roychoudhury, Sourav Chakraborty, Rumki Chatterjee and Rayati Basu in pivotal roles.Recently the official trailer and music from the film was launched in presence of the cast and crew along with singer Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury.

The ‘Tale of a Day’ follows Arunima, works in NASA, but she hasn’t called home for seven days. Her parents receive a phone call from NASA officials who pay them a visit. They are made to believe that their daughter is on the way to Mars on a secret one-way mission.
On the other hand, the ‘Tale of a Night’ takes place in a stormy night Suzan is sheltered by Rajat. His behavior is strange with weird habits. He repeatedly talks about death and warns not to enter a particular locked room. Out of curiosity she fearfully ventures to explore the locked room. She is aghast to find human body parts hanging there. While face to face she pleads for her life.
“Both the incidents end with a different outcome. These two confessions of Suzan which are two different stories deal with shades of death. Also this is the first a Bengali film is showing spaceship, an astronaut’s life. I can assure people will be surprised to see the climax. Both the stories have humane angle also at the end,” explains the director while speaking about the film’s subject.
While the screenplay is by Prosenjit Choudhury and Supriti Choudhury, cinematography is by Mrinmoy Mondal. Santanu Datta has done the music and the film has been edited by Pradip Das. Dipankar Das is the VFX supervisor in this film.
Produced by Supriti Choudhury, the independent film will have its theatrical release on February 28. ‘DIN RATRIR GOLPO’ had received critical acclaims at the Kolkata International Film Festival last year.
