Rituparna Sengupta on her character in Akkarshan, politics and more
Rituparna Sengupta on her character in Akkarshan, politics and more Debraj Sinha'sAkkarshan is a complex portrayal of woman power, keeping human relationships in a charged corporate environment in perspective. It's about the positives that can be salvaged from a negative environment through a humane approach to life. The film will inspire us to dispel pessimism and lead a life full of infinite optimism," said RituparnaSengupta, who plays the lead along with SamadarshiDutta in this film.
It is about a fatal attraction between Sayak (Samadarshi) and my character, Tora. Sayak plays my boss, who gets into a romantic relationship with me despite having a happy married life. After the relationship ends in face of office politics, I begin to wonder whether it was lust that had driven Sayak to start it in the first place. I begin to feel exploited and start feeling like a victim. After all, it's always the woman who ends up getting emotionally drained in a romantic relationship gone wrong," Rituparna said. I'm playing such an intense role after a long time. It challenged me to explore beyond the normal definitions of acting. I loved essaying the character, as it has many shades to it. Also, I had a great time working with Samadarshi. He's extremely professional," the actress added.
The film shows the impact of corporate politics on the lives of various individuals. We asked Rituparna, a veteran in the film industry, about the presence of internal politics in Tollywood. Politics is present in every professional field and this includes Tollywood too. But the real trick is how one deals with it. I, too, have been a victim of Tollywood politics, but I treated it as a part of my life rather than a hindrance. So, it didn't really affect me much," said the actress with a smile. Akkarshan, produced by Shivam Productions 2011, releases today.
