Mamata Shankar’s screen appearance and apt characterization looks every bit intriguing and it also adds to the horror quotient of ‘Flat No. 609’ to a great extent. The versatile actor delivers a commanding performance as she excels in her character of a mysterious neighbor. The horror-thriller, starring
Abir Chatterjee and Tanushree Chakraborty as a newly-wed couple in the lead, has received an overwhelming response from the audience and critics alike since its release last Friday, August 31.
While elaborating on her character in the Arindam Bhattacharya directorial, an elated Mamata Shankar said: “It feels great to see the amazing response we are getting. It seems our hard work has paid off. Arindam (director) has done a great job. And also the way music has been used in the background, it just adds to the suspense. I will also request everyone who have seen the film, Please don’t reveal the climax. Let the twist remain the same.”
Soumitra Chatterjee playing the tensed aged-husband of Mamata Shankar also leaves quite an impact with his consistent natural performance.
Tanushree Chakraborty looks natural as the scared lonely housewife Sayantani. Her expressions of gripping fear in almost every scary scene are convincing enough. Abir Chatterjee’s character Arka, husband of Sayantani, comes with many shades and no doubt his never-before-seen avatar strikes the right chord.
Rudranil Ghosh as the cunning broker and
Kharaj Mukherjee as the detective department senior officer too excel in their brief appearances. Pujarini Ghosh also gives a decent performance.
